Kazz has really been dialed in on some nice smallie action on Candlewood. Today turned out to be a very, very good day despite the cold.

We got our first traps in at 10:30 a.m. and flags started popping and didn't stop until later in the day.

A smiling Kazz. A sign of things to come.

Lots of really solid fish today.

The majority of the day was just non-stop. We didn't get all 10 of our traps in until 1:00 p.m. But the big treat today was this one ...

Kazz connected with a beautiful 5-pounder!

A healthy brown trout.

With all the snow this year, I figured it was finally time to pick up some extender flags for my Polars. It was easy to slip off the standard flags and put these on. They will definitely help when there is deep snow, but today we had a nice hard pack on the ice, which made walking a pleasure compared to what the surface has been lately. The only downside of the long arms is the they really catch the wind, so the heavy setting works best for these.

We fished until dark. We had a good half-inch of ice in the holes when things slowed down at the end of the day.

By day's end, we had 30 smallies! 15 perch and the brown. No largies today. We really didn't do much jigging until the end of the day. We saw decent action on our screens, but it seemed to be all small and/or picky biters. We only got one perch jigging.

Pretty cold out there today with the regular wind gusts, but with the great action, we didn't mind. We never even stopped to cook a typical hot lunch.

Definitely a memorable day with a great partner! rawk

Looking forward to getting back out there Sunday. beerchug
