At 4:30 I was set up in the steady rain waiting for legal light.
I had seen 2 toms in this field on Sunday so I decided to make this my first stop of the year.
I ended up calling a longbeard from across the road about a 1/4 mile away.
First saw him approaching at 500 yards as a blob.
He very slowly made his way across the field to me.
The grass is already almost 2 feet high so my decoys were hardly visible.
Finally, after 45 minutes, he decided to come in.
I dropped him on the spot.

Nice longbeard with a 10" beard and 3/4" spurs.
Soaked from the rain but a great morning.
