I hit a small farm pond that I had permission to fish and caught one nice largemouth on a frog before the farm worker showed up and I wanted to get out of their way so I took off and headed to the river for smallmouth.

The water is still running high and tea stained after this week’s rain up north. Running about 16,000 cubic feet/sec.
I didn’t push my luck in the swift current but still got out in it and gave it to her.
Started with a topwater that I had tied on but no attention to it quickly had me change over to a swimbait on a 1/4 oz head.

That got their attention and I was able to land 5 respectable smallies. They all fought really hard in the current and had multiple jumps and powerful runs. They’re so strong, life on a treadmill will put you in shape!
It was a beautiful day and it felt great to be outdoors!
