Dear subscribers,

I'm thrilled to announce a major change putting you in control of who can read and reply to your posts.

Let's get right to how it works.

When you create a new topic you will notice a "Show Topic Options" link on the left side of the screen.

Click the link and you can see how to control who can read and reply to your topics.

For the read level, if you select "Private," only fellow paid subscribers will be able to view your thread.

If you select "Users," anyone with a free account can read your thread when they log-in (such as past members who are not paid subscribers)

If you select "Public," anyone in the world who surfs to the site can read your topic.

Reply options work much the same way.

Expiration date
If you choose an expiration date, you can allow Users to ready and reply to your threads after a determined amount of days. You might use this for example, if you post a fishing report and feel it's OK that non-subscribers (Users) be allowed to view it after a certain amount of days. Note: After the expiration period, the general public will never be able to view the thread.

Set it and forget it
Once you make selections for a particular thread, you can elect to save those preferences for all future threads you create. Look for the link at the lower left.

Changing a thread's settings
If you'd like to change the preferences for a thread after you've created it, simply go back and edit the thread like you normally would using the "Edit" button, change the preferences, then finally click the "Change Post" button.

More changes to come
There are more changes and features that I'll point out soon, but I wanted to start by explaining this major change first.

I'm hoping this will inject some new life into the board and allow you to connect with some of your past friends on the site, as well as meet new ones.

If you like the private nature of the site as is, nothing has to change. Just continue to post your reports and topics with private settings. The beauty of this new system is that YOU can control each of your topics on a case-by-case basis.

If you know some past members who might enjoy reconnecting with the CTF community, help spread the word.

Finally, please know that the new enhancements are designed to benefit you, the paid subscriber. There will be many features that will only available to paying members, such as the all-important PM system.

I'll keep this thread to announcements and updates only, so it is easy to read.

If you have questions, find bugs, or would like to discuss the changes, please visit this thread.

FAQ
What about past threads I created while the site was private, can anyone view them now?
No. Threads created between May 2007 and Jan 8, 2010 are available to paid subscribers only. Threads before May 2007 are however viewable to non-paid members and guests.

The viewing rights on new threads from today on will be controlled by you.

What is the difference between a subscriber, member and guest?
A subscriber is someone with a paid account.

A member is anyone with an active user account, such as past members who are not paid subscribers.

A guest is someone form the general public who does not have an account and just surfs on in to the site.
