Nice to get help from an out of stater.

With respect to who voted for what, I suggest taking a read of RichZ's letter. RichZ stated in his letter (in so many words), this is a political fight.
In my view the entire General Assembly is responsible for the outcome. The reps that represent us, represent us and should carry our fight. Those reps who did not vote for a 100% increase should be asked to help reverse the legislation by politicing with the opposition.

In the letters I sent, I make no distiction as to the reps vote. I made some points supporting the request, to help reverse "...this harmful legislation.

Anytime I feel that this is a big issue, and I am glad to help out.

If you'd like to fish, just ask.

Ask some of the rich and famous in Greenwich to donate their pocket change and leave our regressive tax for conservation wink

Okay, this is the first substantive sign of progress in the legislature.....

The Governor's proposed budget (H.B. 5018) includes a line for re-funding the Conservation Fund and adding $775,000.

T426 Environmental Conservation Fund [7,969,509] 8,724,509

This first figure (the negative one) is the amount they moved to the General Fund last year. The next figure is the amount her plan proposes to put back.

If you write a letter to your Rep. you may want to ask them to support the re-instatement of the Conservation Fund as proposed in HB 5018.

Hope it sticks.

Thanks for the report ZYG.
(Correction made 020510)
There is a lot of lobbying and politicking taking place in Hartford-that is how things get done in that world. But, the Hartford insiders need sportsmen to show wide spread support for their efforts and the oppositon needs to hear your point of view. Bitching, bitching and throwing punches does not win arguments in bars and the same type of behavior will not be productive in Hartford. It may make you feel good, but it is just not productive.

If you care about the issues as much as the post would indicate, send an informed-respectful letter to your reps and demonstrate that the average sportman cares and will act with his/her vote in elections; that is something Hartford understands.

With respect to informed letters, the SAC Forum makes it easy to write a letter and include one or more of the points that are important for
Hartford to hear. The State Fincial Impact Flyer makes the most important point and IMO should be enclosed with every letter.

Letters from a few of us will make a small voice of support for our lobbyist and politicians, letters from hundreds of sportsmen will deliver a loud voice of support for those fighting in the Hartford trenches.

Together we will get this done in a respectful and productive manner, but in addition to the activity in Hartford, please, take the time to send a letter. And, just, as many of us post our anger, post your letter as sign that you are in the fight with the rest of us.

Instead of posting why you are mad mad, I would suggest posting under this thread, why you will not send a letter and/or not post a letter. confused

I sent my 2nd letter to my Rep Larry Butler in Waterbury earlier this week, still waiting for a reply. I'm wondering if anyone has contacted (or has an association) with the local T.E.A. party movement (Taxed Enough Already) ?? Just seems like our group and theirs could be partners in this fight, there is strength in numbers too, when we are ready to do a protest rally, wouldn't hurt to have as many people as possible with us.

Better to imitate a Winner then be an Original Loser.

Okay, this is the second substantive sign of progress in the legislature.....

Representative Bryan Hurlburt vice-chair of the Envirnment Committee introduced HB 5038 - AN ACT CONCERNING SPORTSMEN AND CAMPING FEES.

http://www.cga.ct.gov/2010/TOB/H/2010HB-05038-R00-HB.htm

I just sent him a quick note let him know I appreciate him taking the lead on introducing the bill.
