my guess is that the 3 round restriction is to align with waterfowl regs, basically adopt the least common denominator so enforcement is easier?

I think it would be for a safety reason, Think the average guy hunting in the state forest with a shotgun fully loaded with 6+ high energy 12 ga slugs. Still looking for his first deer, sort of scary. I know that Ive heard some "battle of the bulges" in the forest before with just 3 shell limits.

I guess, but those same guys hunt private land too. Can you see them all sitting in trees with 10 rounds in their semi-auto rifle? I personally would be fine with 3 rounds in any weapon, regardless of clip size.

Obviously there are some yahoos on state land and private land both, but on state land they tend to be more clumped together since areas are limited and people don't know where each other are.

I agree! 1 round is really all you need.

CProducts IIRC makes a 5 round mag for the 6.8 & PRI also makes 10 rd mags/Myself I have a 10 round mag in my 6.8 but only load to 4.

Why? Just because!
