Yesterday I mentioned the seas. For those that do not know how to measure the seas basicaly it is 1/2 of the total. We had 4-5 easy. From the top to the bottom was 8-10 but being a 5 second period and a typical confused sea it was not nice. That seventh sea will kick your a$$. We deal with this throughout the winter. Unfortunatly a 28 grady white capsized about 7 miles out of the pass. 1 of 5 survived. All bodies were recovered. The water was 4-6 hundred feet deep. One of the charter captains brought the bodies in. The 33 yo son was the only one to survive. They lost an engine and it swamped. NOBODY was wearing a life jacket. WHY!!!!

Just had to share this. Be SAFE and always be alert. No fish is worth it.

Off to day 2 doing what I love.

Started out with calm seas. Ran to our first stop and before we got 2 lines out we had a blackfin. We made a few more passes and managed 2 more. These blackfin are in the 25 pound range. Nice fish. We moved to other places and nothing. Ran to another place. King mackrel and large sharks all over the place. Hammer head, black tip, dusky, brown, and even a large tiger shark. Left the area after donating about 50 hooks. Did somebody say Knot tieing class?

In open water we found some blackfin and picked up another 5. As they slacked off we got another hit. This kind of acted like a shark but then again the big tuna also act the same way. After a good fight we saw the golden color and got 2 gaffs ready. This one hit the docks at 120.4. Soon after that we get another and the mans wife nails one that was exactly 1/2 the size. Hers was 62.5. We spent the rest of the day playing with jack cravelle, A good fighting fish but good for nothing else, Amberjack, and grouper that are out of season.

A lot of action and some nice fish. Off to a good start. Next time out is Thursday. Wish I could post pictures. Not able to download camera with out doing whole camera.

Life is Good!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
