The winds have been wild here. Friday Jeramey and I made an attempt to scout an area the speckled trout have been showing up in numbers and size I have seen them in the 3 plus pound size. After arough 18 mile run we could not get into the bay we wanted to. We ran another pass and tried to get into another bay. Not happening. Being on the water we ran all the way back to the marina and headed out in the other direction. This side was protected better. We were scouting and just played the general area looking for places to try in the summer when this area gets hot. We did manage 6 redfish and 2 sheeps head.

Today we had 20-30 kt winds out of the south east. I stayed inside with my little jon boat. My first fish gave me about a 15 minute fight. The small net I had in the boat that I use for flounder and trout had me wondering if it would fit. I landed a 33 inch redfish. Even the cooler I have on the jon boat was kind of small.

This picture is of the boat and cooler not todays catch. I did not have a camera with me. I don't know if it was the rough water or some of the rivets started leaking but after getting a few short reds I noticed a build up of water in the boat. I decided to head back and bail the water while running in. I did release a redfish with 13 spots on it. At the landing I gave the 33 inch redfish to one of the 3 men fishing together off the bank to add to their catch. Made his day.

Life is Good!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
