The oil spill has changed some things but the fishing is out of this world.
The tuna are hard to get at this time because the blue water has moved out. Same thing happened 2 years ago. We had a good weedline in the area several weeks but it suddenly vanished. That is the down side as of today.
The menhaden plant is having a banner year as evidenced by this boat. I think it holds 1.3-1.5 million pounds when this full. It is NOT sinking!

The crabbers are also doing well and are rushing to get out as many traps as possable.

Today I got in early and went to Venice Marina just in time to help Josh clean a limit of red snapper (2 each), mangrove snapper (10 each) and 2 cobia. The mangrove snapper are comitting suicide this year. They have always been hard to coax out of the rig but this year they are out in front welcoming the boats and bait.

Crazy Ivan should have an outstanding trip next week. We are not fishing we are catching. In the above picture they hid the bottom row of the catch.

Life is Good!
