The 4th Annual Jason Lewis Youth Fishing Derby kicked off this year without a hitch. Despite the threat of rain we welcomed a field of 85 kids to Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield.

I am waiting to get a few pictures back from family members but can say that the event was blessed by lots of fish, beautiful weather, and some fantastic entertainment-thankyou Joe Sabas. There was a number of smallmouth and largemouth caught today but we have yet to break the 1 pound mark. There is a few fishermen that have made the top cut every year. One of them is Mitch's daughter Pam, who claimed second place for the 5 and under age group. She came in first last year.

Kenny, great job, great turnout and great weather! Can't think of anything better than getting kids & families together for fishing and honoring Jason. applause

Some pics ...

Cool to see lots of kids & families out fishing.

I fished with my daughters Samantha (3) and Pamela (5), and niece Allison (11).

We found the best action in very close to shore and as far out as we could cast.

Joe Sabas was there to put on a great magic show as always for the kids and spread lots of laughs!

Bruiser360 tallying up the results.

The happy winner in the youngest division.

My daughter Pammy was very happy with 2nd.

More of the winners ...

All of the first place winners.

Thanks guys. I want to give Candlewood Bait and Tackle a shout out. For the second year in a row they have supported the deby by donating a number of poles to give to the kids. It's great to know that they're as committed to getting the next generation into the mix as we are. Check 'em out.
