Got a call last night from One Eye Ed asking me if I wanted to deck for him today. Met him at the dock at 6:00 am and the 3 guys for our trip showed up soon after. It was a little cool running down the river but once in the gulf it warmed up fast. Eddie Burger ran south and we headed south east. A few others ran east and some ran long. Burger and One Eye made a decision to stay close today. The seas were a lot calmer than the last 3 weeks but still on the uncomfortable side. We trolled around one area and nobody home. The second spot produced a yellowfin

and 3 blackfin than we got a shark and the tuna bite shut down.
We were going to head 8 miles to the east but I suggested running the shelf to the west to give us a better sea. Before I could finish my statement he had the boat turned. We tried 2 other rigs with no marks so we kept on trucking. Before hitting our last area I pointed out a close by rig that usualy holds amberjack.

Having nice live bait we veered off our course and proceded to pick up 3 nice amberjack.

We actually picked up 4 but one was about 36 inches and I released it without harm.
We hit another area that had been hit by just about everybody out today and ppicked up another blackfin and a baracuda that I was able to save the butterfly jig and the hooks were not damaged by the teeth either.
One of the guys was getting queezy so we headed in a little after 3. This gave us time to hang the fish and get things taken care of before the gang came in. Everybody fought hard for what little they got. Amberjack and small grouper were the order of the day. Eddie burger managed the only wahoo to hit the dock and it was a solid 90 pounder. Did not get a picture of it but it was a hog. This was our catch of the day. We had the only yellow today.
