Alewife, golden shiners, spot tail minnows, all the most common types of shiners, etc. Also, a "bait fish" that a lot of people use for pike during ice fishing season is the fallfish; it's basically a sucker type of fish that is in mostly all trout rivers and streams around here.

sorry to hear you had to move to CT

ok, good ways to get started

the forage species which you are asking about are listed in a book that you can buy, but the depth charts are really why most people buy it
http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?A=2696&Q=322692

you can buy bait at most tackle shops. there is so much dace and fallfish most bodies of water that what you buy will work fine. You can catch your own bait and if you want to do that, make sure to read the rules first, in the definitions section of the CT anglers guide, under subheadings of 'bait' and 'bait species'
http://www.ct.gov/dep/lib/dep/fishing/anglers_guide/anguide.pdf

really gotta be more specific though if you want more specific answers. Ice fishing? Targeting trout, bass? What lakes?

I would recomend buying the guide to ct lakes and ponds. It spells out a lot of questions about various bodies of water in the state. Where were you in Maine? My folks are from Aroostock county.

If I fish more I need more lures. If I had more lures I would fish more. I don't think I'm addicted do you?
