What does everyone think for this year. I totally agree we need to change it earlier in the year from the past years.
The end of June is a hard time for our schedule with my daughter's softball team.
We can set June 9th/10th-rain, June 2nd/3rd-rain, or July 7th with a rain date the 8th, right now ? When would we be able to pull more fish in is the real question ? rolleyes Think a little earlier is better ?
YES, we'll take all the help we can get for this year ! !
I even have a surprise donated to us for our pictures

Think Gardner's is still a good place to have it ?

I'd love to find a place where we can get kids fishing from shore. I also like tradition, so Gardner is always on the table. I'm sure we'll make something work for June.

Mitch have you ever thought to approach DEEP and see about using one of the trout parks? Something like Wharton Brook or maybe even Chatfield Hollow park?

Mike, I have thought about a trout park, but never approached DEEP about it. I'll do that, thanks.

A shore location would have to hinge on the number of kids that is anticipated. Too small and it gets packed, too big and the fishing can be tough. A neat idea might be a park that has a pond loaded with carp or cats. Big fish and little kids is always a win/win.
Just a thought.

PDona let me know what you need. I'll help you anyway I can.

In the city of Norwich, you have Mohegan Park Pond. It's one of the few jewels in Norwich, but it could work well the kids day as a "shore only" event.

Plenty of parking, field areas, no boats. Bass/trout, not sure what else.

It's only one town over from Gardner. Exit 81 off 395, onto Rt 2 in Norwichtown.

Nothing is finer than being in South Carolina

Avoid the holiday weekend, to much traffic and crowds for the longer distance travelers; and low attendance due to family obligations.

Either of the June weekends would be fine with me, I agree, the July date could be tough with both lake traffic and family obligations.

I would think moving it to June would also help the fishing, but would be open to fishing a new location . . . especially if it is a little further West.
