Was only fishing 2 days but as things go down here they are never as planned. Eddie will be running 5 days straight so I have 2 more to go as his deckhand.

After 2 banner days you can't expect to have the luck continue. I got discouraged this morning as I stepped out the door. The boat sheds across the streat from me were blanketed in fog and I knew it was going to be worse running the river. That is fog in front of the camera lens not rain or snow.

The first place we stopped looking for wahoo only gave up 1 blackfin. The second and third places were bare. The 4th place gave up 1 wahoo As we were about to leave there we found another blackfin.

We picked up 3 more wahoo and 2 amberjack working our way to the tuna grounds. It was already getting late in the day and our luck was not looking good. We lost at least 6 wahoo and a 4 for 10 count is not the kind of fishing we have been doing. We were at this rig and had 2 on at once. We came up empty handed. A very slow day but we can't be lucky all the time.

Once on the tuna grounds I started chuming and we set out 4 chunk lines and nailed some stud kingfish that we got rid of quickly. On the first drift one of the reels starts singing and it is acting like a good tuna. After a long battle and several kingfish and shark bite offs we sink 2 gaffs into a stud yellow.

This hog weighed in at 176 pounds.

We kept fighting sharks and kingfish and lost one that acted like another monster yellow. We managed to pick a blackfin and a 64 pound amberjack. We sacraficed one blackfin trying to get a mako to grab our hook. The mako looked to be 250 - 300 pounds. He came all around us but was not interested in our blackfin slab offering.

We came in running in very dense fog again this afternoon. This is a shot of our motors and wake running about 35 mph on electronics only.

Overall we had another very lucky day on the water. Our final tally in the box was 3 blackfin, 3 amberjack with one being a 64 pounder, 4 good sized wahoo, and 1 yellowfin tipping the scales at 176.

Have to get some sleep. These 5am till about 9 pm days are taxing to say the least.

Life is Good!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

Hoop, that fog pails in comparison to what we had on the roads down here last night. Melting snow and rain with no wind. It was brutal driving w/ out radar rolleyes

Another banner day in the Bayou, looks like.

Its to bad the oil spill destroyed your fishery, I can only imagine how good it could be if that spill hadn't ruined it... It sad to see these kind of slow days facepalm banghead biggrin
