Dear EnCon Police,

Is shooting of clay pigeons from a boat in Long Island Sound and its CT waters prohibited? Would you need all the required permits for waterfowl and use non-lead ammo?

It's not hunting so it's something that we don't control.

I've been curious about that myself...

I am a commercial photographer in Ffld County - drop me a line if you would like to get some photos of you day on the water or in the field. I am trying to broaden my portfolio to include lifestyle images of hunters/fisherman in action.

From the Hunting and Trapping Guide:

Trap and Target Shooting
Trap or target shooting on any state property or public hunting area is prohibited unless the area is a designated shooting range.

I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to interpret CT waters as "state property". At the very least I'd foresee getting pinched for illegal dumping and/ or breach of peace by CG/local/State PD......my.02

Ive thought about that myself, I think it would be a ton of funs especially while sharking but that brings on a whole new set of laws for federal waters. I dont think I would consider LIS state property even though it techinically is???

So, who's going to be the first to design the rod-holder mounted clay thrower? It'd be great for the first hour of sharking. A little noise never hurt.

Pull!

I'm putting my Mossberg 835 pump turkey gun onboard this year for sharking. Nice tight choke, so you'll really have to know how to shoot to hit em.
