Scott J, son Brandon and I had a great start to our 2015 season this a.m. on the Mianus River in Greenwich.

We got on the ice at 5:30 a.m. and flags were popping in the dark.

The bite continued pretty good for a while and we couldn't keep 10 tip-ups in without always re-baiting. We got a nice mix of good size crappie, yellow perch, white perch and pickerel. No bass or trout today. The little bit of jigging we tried was unproductive.

The bite started to drop off as ice/rain storm picked up. We packed it in around 9:30 a.m. We saw a few car accidents in the area when we got off the ice.

Hope this current rain doesn't do too much damage to the ice. Looking forward to the next one. tipup
