So Chris(csimone) and I have been dying for those huge yellows so we said let's take my small boat out and try for them since it was open water last night and I have been staring at the honey hole all winter!. We checked it and the shoreline was mushy, but easy to break through, we thought!
Chris met me at 6:30am and we backed my boat down to the waters edge. Well it socked up last night. The shoerline ice was up to 2" and the whole Bay had a skim coat. Well we broke through every way possible! With the oars, ice pick and even hung over the front and broke it with our feet! We then realized if we throw the anchor over the thick ice to the skim coat we could pull us over the ice or break through while we pull the rope. My idea and Chris'sucessful throw and it worked. We then broke through the skim ice rowing like indians and got to the spot.
Well they aren't there yet except for one that Chris got. I am at work and forgot to bring the camera. It was pretty funny and we got a great workout! Well at least we tried!
