Attached is a pdf file of a DEEP news release issued today, Thursday, 9/15/2016 announcing that the closure period at the Furnace Brook thermal refuge on the Housatonic river has been extended through September 29. This was done to protect heat stressed fish including trout that continue to congregate at the mouth of furnace Brook where cooler water is entering the Housatonic River. All other thermal refuges will reopen for fishing tomorrow (9/16).
