The dam work was suppose to be done in December. Did the complete it? Does anyone know when the plan is to refill the lake? Will the pond be stocked? I miss fishing that place.

Im with you. One of my favorite spots. I doubt the state will invest a single penny to restock the lake. I drive by daily checking my fur traps. Looks to still be very much in progress.

I'm unaware of this situation but will look into it. I just looked at the Town of Griswold's website (see below). It does not say when DEEP will refill the pond. It looks like Pachuag will get re-filled in mid march.

Look under state of CT press releases, DEEP and public health notices.

Not to mention all the Googins that went down at low water to rape all the big bass! I hiked the whole thing a month ago. Nothing left but a bunch of small pickerel and perch. I saw a few bass but small ones and a few white perch. Natural predation is doing a number on what's left also. Wait till the cormorants show back up, It'll be game over.......

you have to look on the bright side.

when its back up, fill it with fish on your own. while its down, create some srtucture.

Maybe they were just good Samaritans saving them, and trans-stocking them in another pond, lake, river.

It's a possibility. smile1

That's what I would have done if fish were left to die.

We have water. This was taken today. Now all we need are some fish.

Yeah it looks like it. They were suppose to be done in December. I'm looking forward to hearing what DEEP plans on doing.

guys,

if you are waiting for the DEEP to stock bass or other warm water local game fish of any kind, dont hold your breath.

ive not heard of any stocking program that is successfully self sustaining except the northern pike program in this state. the walleye fail, the trout are spring and fall survivors only and then few holdover in deep cooler water, and after that there isnt anything.

thin as it is, and not really in charge of stocking fish in lakes, you might want to consider contacting hatchery division, and see if there has been any notification to import or propagate fish. i doubt it highly.

the lake can be re stocked. you know how.

F**king pissed about this lake. One of the best early spring fishing spots around. Gone for probably a decade..... the state needs to step up to the plate on this one! I realize they won't but one can dream.......

I got an answer from DEEP. I was pretty sure I knew what the answer would be.

"At this time there are no plans to restock bass. Fish populations typically come back on their own (although sometimes there are shifts in abundances, composition and size structure) following drawdowns such as Glasgo Pond experienced."
