Looking for some advice to make a trip to Pulaski's for me and my 13 year old son. I really have no information at all, not sure if its still good fishing up there. I am looking for a guide for the two of us. Want to use spinning gear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to reply to this post of PM me with any information or recommendations.

Thanks,
Jason

CTF Member Mike G guides drift boat trips up there and could definitely help with your trip and/or provide info:

Outside of Mike, here's a guide I fished with in the past who was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. And he does it all with one hand! Tell him Mitch from CT recommended him.

Good luck and look forward to your report!

Also www.theriverguide.com He use to be on here. I have done trips with him before highly recommended. He has cabins to rent as well.

Once your kid hooks into a big angry trout aka a steelhead all other river fishing will be borring.

It's a great place to fish and best to do it on a drift boat to start.

Good luck and have fun

I hear the mud shark action is slowing down - they got some cold weather mid september that kicked things off early this year. Friends that live up there are pretty much waiting for steelhead runs to get going before doing anything more.

if you want to camp Yogi Bear in Mexico Ny is great for kids. It has the little Salmon river you can fish if you stay there. It's a really small and shallow river but some fish do come up. They get fished out quickly but it's fun for the kids.

Guy I have known for 35 years was up there last weekend. I saw him Tuesday at Home Depot where I work. He hit the steelies and salmon in the river. Not much in details except he paid to fish the restricted area nearest the lake.

A Lot of good guides up there but once you find a few good pools you should be able to fish it on your own. I recommend using a fly rod instead of spinning gear though (It's easier to get a good drift and you have a lot more control of your bait). I also recommend going late fall so you have a chance at big steelhead and browns in addition to the dirty kings. I have a few salmon river videos on my youtube, go check them out! @handberrydea

I have a buddy who rents a house on one of the best spots on the river. No elbow to elbow fishing. Pretty cheap for what you get.
