No brainer...Hawaii. Most amazing place I've ever been. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon ten yrs ago. At the end of the trip, her comment was, "If I am ever homeless, I will beg for enough money to come back to Kauai and live on the beach." I have to concur. It's phenomenal.

Fishhead had it right. S Carolina. The area he went to is close enough to be a days trip from Ct. and a half day from Florida. No snow, low taxes, year round fishing for bass. Fantasy excursions to some of the lakes ive only read about are within travel distance also. As soon as we get our first big snow Ill have my maps out and start wishing I wasnt here anymore. Been doing it since the early 90s when I first caught the bass bug.
I moved to Maine after I retired two years ago. Rents are cheap, (compared to CT) and usually include heat and hot water as well as electricity sometimes. I've always thought about Oregon though, as well as Alaska. The best thing about Connecticut is the easy access to salt water or fresh, and lots of state land for hunting.
For the size of the state, Maine has very little state owned public land.
Being a little philosophical, I don't think that you will not have any ties to where you have lived for a long time so moving to another locale will always come with some regrets.
Another consideration will be the aging process we will all go through, what happens when you are no longer able to climb mountains or blaze a path to the unfished waters of a cool mountain stream.
I like the idea of somewhere near the Carolina shores with easy access to saltwater fishing and monster freshwater impoundments as well as the general year long pleasant weather were leasurly rounds of golf can be had year round.
