Under apple trees traditional spot. I found them also along trout stream banks and paradoxically under my mailbox. Slice once end to end to insure entirely hollow to differentiate from multi-chambered poisonous false morels. Protect yourself from hungry aggressive deer tick nymphs.

try a different state. In Iowa they are everywhere

Just found one in my yard this week. I don't do all that well in CT when I'm specifically targeting them. It seems they are mostly accidental finds. Old abandoned orchards are good places to look. Some areas of the state are better than others.

Unfortunately, morels and ticks seem to go hand in hand.
