Isnt most of that area frozen right now, i guess it must have thawed yesterday because i know for a fact only a small portion by the bridge was open on monday.

Never fished it, for trout i stick to the south end of the Res., overall its deeper.

Nice brown! I hit the res Xmas day in the rain and landed one around 20" or so. Totally different colors as mine was very silver and was most likely a female. I caught and released 2 last week and both were totally different colors. One was caught on a muddler minnow and the other on a rapala. I'll be fishing tomorrow again.

Striper Sniper, you mention a muddler minnow, were you flyfishing? That is a fly right?

All of the trout i have gotten this year have been that same silvery color too, they are very healthy looking fish. Every one has been 16-17" and weighed 1lb 9-11oz. Maybe they are stocked?
I was very surprised that this larger one i got was the color and shape that he was, i have read that often brown trout in lakes take on that silvery color and longer thinner shape, especially when thier diets consist largely of other fish, which i believe is the case at the Saug.

I did get a very healthy rainbow on the friday before x-mas, it was the nicest looking rainbow i have ever seen, around 15", weighed 1lb 11oz and was fat as hell and, very strong, i thought he was much larger before i saw him. One of only 2 rainbows i ever got there, the other i could have used as bait he was so small.

they have all looked like this guy here:

That is exactly what the one's I've caught look like. I don't think they are stocked and it's nice to see there are some rainbows around still.

The Muddler Minnow is a deer hair fly, I've had great success in Candlewood with it also, pulsing it just under the surface making a slight wake. My biggest brown ever - 29" and 9.6# was taken on a #2 Long Shank Muddler in CWood. If you flyfish give it a try on a floating line, otherwise I have had luck with the Rapala's when no room for a back cast! I'll be down there later on to test the waters again.

Nice catch, the only time I would jump into 30 degree water is if I had a 50# striper on the other end of my line! Your a better man then I, I'm not jumping in the water this time of year!

You have no idea how much time i have put into fishing that reservoir this year, I'm surprised I still have a girlfriend. I would have swam 5o feet out to get em if i had to. And then been arrested by the BHC Police probably.

those trout that are silvery are seaforelins or watever they were put in the res because the alwife population they are the most agresive and hungy trout in the res i got one that was 8 pounds before.
