Ran a trip yesterday with the boss and a couple of guests in town for the ASA summit. Earlier in the week, the forecast wasn't looking good but... WOW, things changed! It was gorgeous out there. The water was still a bit dirty but that may have helped the bite a bit.
We left the marina at 06:30 and headed to some new numbers we had been meaning to check. We found a serious hump in 200' that topped out around 150' The second we throttled back, the graph was lit up with life as high as 20 feet off the bottom. From the first drop we made till we headed back we were into fish. If memory serves me, I think we boated 13 different species on the Flat Fall and Flat Side jigs. Color wasn't as important as size was. Some of the fish were puking up some type of bait that was less than 5" so for the most part we fished with 112 and 140 gram Flat Sides and 130 gram Flat falls.
We ended up with gags to 42 pounds, scamp, cobia, mahi, big AJs and got 5 pompano to the boat along with some less desirable species. They were in an eating mood for sure as there was no doubt when you got bit. We have a large meeting at the office this week and we will be cooking on the Traeger Tuesday night! Can't wait for that feast...

Joe, I've been working for Shimano for 4 years now but had to relocate almost 2 years ago to the Fish Division HQ to take a promotion. NEVER thought I would like it as much as I do here. I miss my ice fishing but as you can see, there is lots to fill that void here!
