We,ve been making do and scraping together a meal here and there.
...that shellcracker was 11" long,almost 2 lbs....mutant.the piers and shore acess at the parks here are amazing.this place,meadow park ,only 300 acres,has a bait store with tackle,minnows,crickets,worms .boat rentals,everything is DA acessible.nice.
"Outfishes" is more like it. those are yellow bass.i only caught perch.odd place to catch them,they are basically a river system species.this place all creek fed.
Buck,weather permitting,we get by....anticipating trip #2 to Dale Hollow.weather has not been safe.reports say big walleye bite up there now.trolling the usual in 15 / 25' of water.i guess if you live up that way,or have a slip youre gold.hour drive for us,not worth 2 or 3 hours.
Meadow park lake tomorow...5 hr window on the NON STOP THUNDER & LIGHGTNING STORMS( at least we are not in a tonadoe prone area,to high to mountainous,) Worth a 20 minute drive...open post.we,ll see.. . big ass blue lawn ornament with a brand new bare broke in merc..killing me... the yellow bass were firm flaky and tasty.salt pepper & olive oil/ butter.i have caught those dudes by the bucketfull,s back in east tx tidal estuaries...wife didnt even know what they were.
4th ,friday.had errands in town...25 miles,we tend to wait till the "list" gets long.decided get up early,was 85 degrees by 9.went fishing first...we got our priorities straight. you have to be on the water by 6 and off by 10...you will die by roasting or Wench whining.burned alive or ice picks in the ears..? Your choice.well despite extreme southern heat we prevailed and caught supper in 2 hrs.yellow bass fillet like a white perch and taste very similar.
