I have fished there since the late 80's and besides those couple of years (late 80's & early 90's) when the fishing was great, it was like a guessing game to see if the fishing was dead or almost dead. One thing I can say is if the bite is on - it's hot!! Nice mixed bad of good quality fish. Did you get a pic of the trout & bass? Sounds like a great day down @ the Saugy - good job & thanks for the report

How big was the brown? What did you get em on?

Surprising to hear of a brown in close/ shallow enough with the water temp up there.

Great day on the res thats for sure.

Got the brown on a shiner it was a keeper that made a good lunch and no pics of the brown or bass i didnt have the camera with me i took the pic of the walleye and crappie when we got home but i will put the camera in the car for next time i would have loved to get a pic of the bass and the little walleye. Al the fish that we caught were caught on shiners about 17-20 feet down on a slip bobber. But the dozen or so white perch were caught on a kastmaster.

Paul, what happen since then that makes it not so great? lack of stocking or too much pressure, too many alewives?

Squirt, i have yet to catch a crappie or white perch in there. In fact i don't think i ever caught a crappie. I've been fishing for big large mouth, nothing over a 1 lbs yet.

My nephew had about a 4 pound lmb swallow his shiner right in front of him on the retrieve. He was using his small river trout rod w/ 4lb, it snapped the line on him. It made the kids day though, to see this big mouth open up and take the shiner 2 feet from him.

again, wtg on all the fish...
