What does anyone think of the idea of wearing a low-profile pfd like a SOSpenders while icefishing?

picks - check
polypropolyne rope - check

any other safety items that are good to have that may help if you go in?

I think the part about letting your arms freeze to the ice is very informative. Not that I plan on being in that situation anytime soon, but if it's a last chance effort atleast you know what to do. Thanks Blaine

Absolutely if fishing alone on early or late ice. In addition, I very rarley fish alone but if I do, someone always know where I'll be and they have a ETA of my return. I have all the other safety gear with me when I have a partner so I do not wear any kind of flotation then

Blaine, Great stuff!! Never leave home without the PICKS, Dont care how thick the ice is. One question though. He had ski's on and quickly took them off. My ice fishing boots must Weigh a ton soaked. Should/would you kick off the boats?

YES! Early in the year, I keep by boots unlaced so that I can kick them off if needed. Trust me, you WILL get out a lot easier than if you were kept them on

Thanks Blaine. I hope I never need that info, but it's great to have!!
