I'm going to ask an off-subject question { thank God} to Enconn - What is the difference between the "DEC" and the "DEP". One being conservation and the other being protection , or are the two now under one name?

Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was coming to the mountains to trap and be a mountain man. Acted like they was gut-shot. Says, "son, make your life go here. Here's where the peoples is. Them mountains is for animals and savages." I said, "Mother Gue, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world." And by God I was right.

DEC is Department of Environmental Conservation, they are our counterparts in New York State. New York also has a Department of Environmental Protection and a Department of State Parks.

In Connecticut we are all combined into the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)

This thread will not die! Does anyone know what the record number of post's on a thread is? I believe this is 105! BY the way...three tractor trailer units hauling waste out of the nuke plant today past the homestead were all playing Elvis at maximum volume...should I be concerned?

Can't believe I read this entire thread.

Personally I've never seen any evidence of
mountain lions in CT. Until I see proof I'll assume that while the possiblity exists, it is unlikely that they are here.

However, the Florida agencies have tried and tried to cover up their lion issues. They went from tracking the lion sightings all over the state after they released a bunch, to claiming that none exist in the areas outside of the Everglades.
