I am NOT saying that 7#+ LMB are a dime a dozen.

I AM saying that there are more of them out there in just about EVERY body of water than apparently most of you think.

The REASON that they are not being caught is that people are NOT fishing for them using BIG BASS tactics and people are NOT thinking outside the box!!!!!!!!!

If you use the same approach as you would for catching average size LMB then guess what.....you'll catch average size LMB!!!!!!!!

This is a CHALLENGE TO ALL!!!!!!!!......think and fish outside the box and CATCH THESE MONSTERS.....THEY ARE THERE!!!!!!!!!

Just like CTF members....."If You Feed Them They Will Come!!!!!!!!" \:D

Very true Jighead. But more than likely a trophy size LMB (8lbs and up in CT) is not wasting energy chasing down bait. See how many people here have spoke about a GAINT fish trying to eat a smaller one they had on a line. It is going after a injured easy mark. They like to eat big slow sources of food. Not to say they won’t eat a small bug. Which any fly fisherman can verify but the bigger fish do like bigger bait. And again. Nothing will work better than a real food source. I have fished in private LBM lakes that are loaded with BIG bass. Where some of the bass stocked have come from Texas and other places know for their LMB. Not hard to get one to take a 8” pond shiner since that’s what their main food source is. But it took me all day into the night before I could con one into eating rubber. So if you want the easy way out. Chuck a BIG fresh bait that matches what the food source is and sit back. Other wise get your ass to work. Finding them isn’t the hard part.

Don,

This one was 23" and full of eggs and still fell short of 7 pounds:

Can I order my new rod yet? \:D

Too much BS...No pics besides HB's and Pski's... I'm wondering when your going to start and when the deadline is. Store bought scales are trash. I have had a dozen or so over the past few years and all of them are off. Don, if you dont have a live well I'll gladly take my boat down to Rogers and escort your FISH to a certified scale...And is this bet open ended with no deadline..? Talk is cheap, get busy. And oh yeah, by the way Striper fihsing is easy. Probably the easist fish to catch.

It is the mark of an intelligent mind to be able to entertain an idea without necessarily accepting it.

Like I said......LMB fishing is no priority for me...especially now that my saltwater boat is slipped.....but I do plan on giving this a shot and SHUTTING YOU GUYS UP!!!!!!!! :p \:D

LMB fishing does nothing for me, but pursuit of BIG trophy fish of any species does!

Husky....lots of nice pics, but you REALLY have to hold those fish closer to your body because outstretched they really have no reality basis....like I said you can make a 12" LMB look 6" or 16#s by the way you take the pic.

You guys are the LMB strong sensitive type. :p \:D \:D \:D

Don, you salty snake! Don’t even go criticizing Husky’s pics until we see some of yours. Keep running your mouth, and by the end of this season you’re going to talk yourself out.. Gee it’s almost June, and you STILL haven’t gotten your boat in the water. Yap, yap, yap. Type, type, type. Go work yourself into a frenzy drowning bait, would ya.

Mitch that was a great bass that you caught. I think Don is starting to realize that the task is a little more difficult than he realized. The deadline is the start of ice fishing season, and the bass must be weighed on a certified scale, no exceptions.

I've got 25 years of DEP Trophy records in front of me, they support my position pretty well. From 1965 through 1989, there were 15 Trophy Bass registered with the DEP from Rogers. Twelve of the 15 weighed 6 pounds and change, only 3 of the 15 weighed 7 pounds or more.

And Don, do you doubt that the bass in the photo above was 23" long? I assure you that it was.

Here's an awesome photo of Findbass with a 6-10 from a couple weeks ago:

By the way, Joe G. is right, any old bum can catch a striper: \:\) \:D \:\)

my friend has fished this place before and has tried to get me to go with him but its a bit risky. hes never been caught but a few of his pals have and they got slapped with a $75 fine for fishing and one for trespassing
