Dusty,

Will they/you release the pic? That is an incredible fish and even though I rarely bass fish anymore I'd love to see it.

The existence and landing of a 10-pound bass is one thing.

Proving its weight is a whole other thing.

If anyone is in the hunt for the big one, let's hear your plan for where you're weighing it in.

As of now I would definitely get it weighed and measured at a local tackle shop with certified scales.

Now I don't have the heart or desire to take a bass thats 12 inches to 6 pounds, but something that big is once in a couple hundred lifetimes up here and I would have to put her on the wall. There's always the side that says put it back to let it spawn and pass down its genes, but a fish that big has spawned so many times I wouldn't be sure how many more years it would have to live to do so.

I know that southern strain bass get to about ten pounds in ten years so their northern growth rate would be much slower giving the bass a couple more years history to spawn.

So my answer would be taking it to a local shop with certified scales.

Better off getting it weighed at a Deli or Supermarket, I'm sure they would more then happy to sign the affidavit as a witness. Their scales ARE certified by the State. If I can remember I'll post ANOTHER pic of a 10lb+ caught in Ct. after XMAS, as I won't get to take a pix of it till then. It was caught over 30 yrs. ago.

i WILL NOT KILL IT if I do get one. I will weigh it get several pics and goodbye! The only way it gets kept for any time is if it is over 13 lbs so it can be certified by the state. Then maybe it goes to t-force or Cabelas. If not, i dont give a flying S**T if people believe it

I have a feeling that someday I will pull a 10 pound largemouth out of Whitney Farms Golf Course with my trusty Rapala Shallow Shad Rap.

If bluefish were to grow as big as giant bluefins, then there would be nothing left out there except for blues!

I LOVE MY BLUES!
