Matt...as mycept said the scale would not give a good representation of age because the fish was a florida growth bass.

BUT>>>>it would say pretty firmly that the bass was from FL or CT.

And im not aware of any such scale being on record...again call and you shall find out. Im just eh laborer for them...collecting the data, i dont do a lot of work after i collect it for them.

I know that a record is coming out of my local lake pretty soon(this ice season!) I've seen and heard of a couple 7,8, and a 10 lbrs coming out in the past few years. Plus the low fishing pressure helps a lot. I've seen some monster bass crusing the shallows there and can't wait to get at 'em come springtime.

Also, my friend recently showed me a magazine cut-out from the 1970s where a man had caught a 16 pounder on Congamond on the fly. The bass was amazingly huge, and it had a large write up about it. I wish I had it, then I would post a pic.

Does anyone know if someone caught a fish on a border lake if it could be counted as both the states record if it fits the bill?

Thanks Dusty

I have spoken to the DEP Bass Management personnel. They told me they have only shocked up two bass over 10 pounds total in all their years of electrofishing. Both were in relatively small bodies of water in eastern, CT.

I would LOOOOOVE to be able to drop a small row boat in Shonecks Pond,
a private pond south of Hartford. Use to fish it as a kid growing up
30 years ago. I lived down the street from it. It's got some BIG bass in it. Dinner plate size blue gill too. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody here recognizes the name.....

i have seen one bass at the local golf course that was well over 10 lbs. The largest i have see caught was by my friend, it was just over 7 lbs, and small compared to the one i saw when golfing.

gotta love winter topics. You can tell nobody is fishing. \:\) I am upto page 24 and I can't follow the arguments anymore so I'll just name the lake. I think, specially after catching eight 4 to 5 lbs bass this year from shore my vote goes to lake saltonstall. I lost another 3-4 of the same size . Its a big lake with a lot of reports of 6 pounders being taken every year. Its barely fished for its size and does not get fished in the winters at all. Most people who fish it fish for walleyes. It has a huge supply of baitfish with aliwives, perch, sunfish etc plus it has lots of cover in summer, its deep, good oxygen levels etc etc. If we are looking at all the ingredients of a big fish lake saltonstall has them.

KEEP UM FLOPPIN'!!
