I agree with Highland. The trout population just makes it such a great place for bass to load up.

No matter what they've said I done, but I ain't never had too much fun.

1. Lake Quassapaug

2. Lake Lillinonah

3. Tauten lake in Newtown. This lake gets so much pressure for trout, that i think bass fishing there is almost ignored. Well thats from what ive seen anyway. Ive only fished there twice with my grandfather whom had permission, and we targetted trout. I beleive everyone else there was targeting trout as well. So i dont beleive that there is a lot of bass pressure there.

what's said on the boat, stays on the boat. Rule #1. always remember that.

I spend many hours fishing the Ct River and have won several tournaments on it. We were prefishing a tournament last fall and I hooked what I thought was a striper. It ended up being a Largemouth that went 6.80 pounds on a Berkley Scale!!! I have pics on my cell phone that I'll try to post. What a fish 3 days too early for the tourny - we still won though. I've also caught several smallies over 5#'s and hooked one that was well over 6 maybe pushing 7. River has a huge forage bass and some big fish if you know where to look for them

Waramaug has the state record largie and smallie swimming in it....alewife eaters that receive fairly low pressure. Winchester has 10lb + largies in it, a friend of mine caught one 8.13 lbs this winter through the ice and it was on the skinny side, would have gone well over 10 around spawn. Theres so many places for big bass to hide in there its just a matter of getting to them.

I agree!

My biggest in CT happens top be from Mansfield Hallow - 7+lbs.
Biggest Smallie has to be from Candy...

Guys + girls great topic. Took me 2 hrs to read all 43 pages.
Im a Mass swimbait guy but I spend many hrs on some of your states great waters. Most of my big bass hunting is after dark but the spring + fall are also great times to land a cow. As for the state record? + where. I say a new record in CT can happen. Where I say lake X. The best shot is on a lake that is stocked with trout + has a good # of alewifes in it. You guys have a hand full of lakes like that. Last year my best CT bass was 7lb13oz on a 3:16 1-up rainbow swimbait + in Mass my best was 7lbs2oz on a custom 3oz swimbait called a Woodtail. Heres a few pictures + also a old shot of the Mass state record 15.8oz fish that came through the ice.

Mass state record fish was reported that it was taken from Sampsons Pond in Carver but the truth is it was caught in Mill Pond. Mill is the 1st pond that comes out of the Agawam river. Sea run bait is the key...herring. Walter Bolonis is the guys name that iced that giant back in 1975. You can bet that the hole was very big.
