Reselling/flipping through the CTF Classifieds

It has come to my attention that there may be members reselling goods bought through the CTF classifieds for a profit ("flipping").

Although not illegal, I’d encourage both buyers AND sellers to be clear about their intentions when doing business together.

Sellers
If your intention is to offer an item for end use by a fellow CTF member, be clear about that when listing your ad. Or, if your main concern is simply selling your item at your asking price, be clear about that as well.

Buyers
If you have no intention of buying and using an item for yourself – but only to flip the item for a profit – be clear about this when negotiating with the seller. There may be other CTF members who would like to purchase the item for their use.

Honesty is the best policy
When it comes to doing business with fellow CTF members, honesty is the best policy. Deception and bad business dealing will not be tolerated and are grounds for a subscription refund and being shown the door.

Geez, first we're poaching blackfish out of season and now we're flipping goods bought under the guise of member-to-member transaction. Not been a great day today, not at all.

I like the way this was immediately and clearly addressed. Kudos.

Sounds like free market capitalism at work to me. Buy low and sell high.

I've always felt the same way about tag sales that I host very rarely. Some one else is paying me to take my trash away. The alternative for me it so pay someone to haul it to a landfill.

If that person can turn around and sell it at a profit, more power to him. I'm happy because someone paid me to take my trash away. He's happy because he sold it for more than he paid me. The buyer is happy because he paid a lot less for it than he would have paid at Wal-Mart.

Everybody wins.

This is a great country and this is how capitalism works.

It all comes down to what the seller of the item wants. Some want to help a brother out. By letting them flip it I guess they are helping a brother out in the end. I don't think it should be the buyer of the goods responsibility for disclosing. If a seller does request the item is for member use, one should respect that.

Owe too much on your house?(upside down) Call me and we can discretely discuss your options. I can buy and negotiate a win-win situation.

I don't understand the controversy about asking for a little integrity about what your intentions are.

i agree with bruiser. nothing wrong with keeping it real. to someone new to the game who sells on the classified i think the difference is that to them it isnt capitalizing its being an oppurtunist. they believe the flippers have the ctf association to take advantage of the classifieds. if you want to sell and if you dont want someone to flip your product price it high. if in the end you dont have a buyer let the flippers have there way with it. if i just want to unload something ill leave room in the asking price for someone else to make a buck flipping it. if they have the time and connections to get a better dollar than more power to them. but if i have something in good shape that i want top dollar for than i will stick a higher tag on it. you need to understand the rules of the game.

I bought and sold stuff here, I've also given stuff away. Whenever I sell something or give it away, I don't give a rats arse what they do with it. If they want to sell it for more than they paid me power to them. This is America isn't it?

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson

Free market capitalism??? What a joke. Whiny old people??? Only an jerk would make a comment like that.
Look, the issue is level of expectation. Site members offer products here to members for a good price to help a "brother" as someone said above. If you are a flipper let the seller know, maybe they don't care or will honor your offer if no one wants the deal. The prices are low to reasonable for a reason, help a CTFer get something they may otherwise not afford. Anyone can put it on Ebay or Craigslist for a higher price. How smart do you have to be to do that?? No "free market capitalist" needs to apply. Just a reasonable seller and buyer with the right level of expectation. Is that too hard to ask?? Is that a problem??
Do all of you hot-shot flippers get the message?

If your flipping on ctf then big time your not...I've never sold anything on this site but have given away five boats, a 7.5 merc and an 80 lb thrust foot pedal trolling motor..Free to people that otherwise may not have had it..all because of ctf and the passion we share .The deals were done on the basis of afford ability. If someone were to flip something on deception then I can understand some hard feelings but if someone is buying outright, fare and square so to speak and then sells it for a few bucks more than more power to em I say..Even if I give something away I don't care if the person sells it to make a buck...If they need it that bad then hey they need it that bad...

That is a great point Joe, as a matter of fact the ONLY point that matters.

I have bought, sold, given away, and accepted free items on this site. It is a great resource and if everyone is honest and upfront there should never be any problems or bad feelings.

That sums it up nicely.

That's all I'm asking of people.
