I see they repaired the parking lot last year - but I also saw a few comments that the launch prior to the repair wasn't really functional - does anyone know if that's improved at all? Only looking to put in a 14' jon but it's on an oversized trailer befitting a much larger boat so shallow launches are troublesome.

If the boat sits high on the trailer, it's going to be an issue. The ramp is super shallow without much pitch.

I think it was your assessment of the pre-paving conditions I'd dug out in a search that had me wondering if it improved in the first place... I've got the keel rollers as low as I can set them and not have the bottom scrape the trailer. It doesn't weigh much, so worst case scenario I shove it off and drag it back on - I just was hoping for an easy time.

I'm supposed to be heading out with a friend and Burr pond is close to his office - we went to Dog pond last time, but he lives in Bristol so this was the closest body of water with a boat launch. Hopefully the fishing will be worth it - it seems like a really shallow pond - dunno what we'll find, probably lots of slime darts.

I don't know what you have for power on your boat, but Stillwater Pond in Torrington might be another option. It does have a electric motor only restriction though. Boats with gas outboards go out there but keep the motor out of the water. Some remove the prop or put a bag over it also. The ramp is in very good condition there.

I've got both gas and electric - but I can unbolt the gas and leave it on the stand at home if need be.

Any idea where we're more likely to succeed? All things being equal I'd stick with Burr Pond as it's closer to his job, but if Burr is all but dead and Stillwater has recovered then that would make sense...

I have not fished either recently, so no first hand reports to share. If I was picking a spot between the 2, it would be Stillwater. But that is just personal preference.

Stillwater is the better of the 2. Lots of laydowns and humps.

My name is Jim. You can call me slim. I row my boat way out to the middle.Cause the fish I'm after ain't so little. Pike, Trout, Largemouth Bass. Get me out there really fast. I know I'm good, really the best. The rest of you are such a pest. - By Henry Gibson

Well, trying to get the boat finished this weekend didn't work out - so I'm having to postpone until next week. He was asking me about Lakeville as an option too, so perhaps (hopefully) we will end up deeper in the NW corner on more water than a side pocket pond.

I'll 2nd that, it's even tougher (much tougher, in fact) to launch at Burr Pond than Mudge in Sharon (for anyone who knows the Mudge launch).

Better to imitate a Winner then be an Original Loser.
