That whole field used to be full ot tents every Opening Day weekend when it was owned by the Fire Department. I did it one year and it was pretty cool.

This is what I recall..please correct me if I am wrong..

I believe the State bought it about 3 years ago and they no longer allow camping there. It is just there. Because of "financial reasons" there is nothing going on there yet. This is what I heard anyway..

I actually think a campground at SR would be cool - I'd go there..

Salmon River State Park does not have a campground, so setting up a campsite would be illegal.

Yes, it's owned by the local FD and is private property. There are several others actual campgrounds in the area- Markham Meadows, Nelson's Campground and even Wolf's Den just down the road in Moodus. All close to great freshwater fishing.

My ex hated my Jeep. I still have my Jeep.

The property in question is State owned and now part of the Salmon River State Forest. So camping would be illegal as the Captain stated.

I was pissed when east hampton didn't buy that property from the FD when it went for sale. I'm pretty sure they had first right of refusal.
