Carp Fishing 7/3

Carp Fishing 7/3 - 07/03/18 04:57 PM

Got invited out to the river with Scott D and Eric to chase the elusive carp.

Scott was on the fish the day before so we had high hopes as we set our rods.

I broke off the first 2 screamers that took my bait, both clean mystery break offs. Bummer for sure!
Thankfully, there would be others.

I changed to new leader material and the next hit resulted in a fish on the bank.
Not a big fish, about 6 lbs, but a nice start.

We ended up beaching 4 nice commons with the best two weighing in the teens.

It was a fun way to bend the rods and hang out talking fishing.

Thanks for the invite Scott, and having Eric as a photographer is always great.

Here's some pics:

an underused resource, and an under targeted fish. Great work man, been hiting the shore a lot in 2018, i like it!

lots of fun today, the day before I got 12 and the next day is slow but that's carping. Great people to fish with on a hot summer day

Great job! I see them almost every time I am on the river. Any attempts to catch them just scattered them. I know their not easy to catch. Great job on beaching a bunch of them.

Nice Fishing!! Do you mix your own bait? Corn seems to be only thing that works for me.

Corn mixed with sweet syrup, kool aid, or soda and ground corn meal or cereal to make a paste. Pack a marble sized ball around a small treble with a sliding sinker set up.
