After Dinner Smallies 6/23

I went back to chase those river smallies again.
The water level is super low and the fish are not where they usually are because alot of their ambush spots are high and dry.
I started with the whopper plopper that they chewed so well the other day, but on this night they would nudge it or V wake it then turn away.
I switched up to a soft jerkbait and that did the trick. They would hear or see it splash down and V wake right to it and crush it. Good times! Some would just eat it during my erratic retrieve too so it was a fun bite.
I put the WP back to work before I left to cover more water and it produced some great bites too.
It was a fun couple of hours.
I miss not seeing OMG posting trips due to an injury, but I'm trying to keep her pets entertained.

Glad to see you found them again. Solid lure change can make a big difference.
I am planning to go fish the river pretty soon. Low water and high weeds in Windsor area (Barber Street Launch) has me thinking I may do better North of the
Enfield Dam (S River Street/Thomaston Launch). Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mike

Thompsonville and around Kings Island area always holds fish Mike.
Daddy Pickle could help for boating that area. I only wade fish it.

Jon,

Thanks. If you like Whopper Ploppers, try the site: https://www.aliexpress.com You can get knock offs that are very good, almost identical for less than a third of what you would pay in Dick's or other major chains.

Tight lines,

MikeV
