I hit a stretch of river for an hour before meeting a former employee from 20 years ago for a beer.
Something flushed my plopper coming along a heavy current seam, and headed into the channel white water. Whatever it was put up a great fight in the heavy flow, and used the current to it’s full advantage.
The fish didn’t jump so I figured it wasn’t a big smallie. I actually thought I had hooked a pike when I first saw him flash in the current, but nope, wrong species. I caught the last striper living this far north. He obviously forgot to follow his buddies to the sound and was still making a living up here.
Head south young man and I’ll see you again in a few years as a 50 pounder!
