Gil net license. Includes Commercial fishing licence plate?

HI Quick question. I bought a Gil net this year, and I decided to be on the up and up. I bought my 2016 Personal use Gill Net fishing License. When the envelope arrive there was a CT FISH Commercial Fishing Car License plate included.

Does this come with all Gil net licenses? I am certainly NOT a Commercial fisherman. I'm not really even a good fisherman...

what am I supposed to do with it?

Yes. you are required to display the plate while Gill Netting (even recreationally)

For 100 bucks its a "Nice to have" and could save you a ton of time looking and tossing the cast next.

what are you legally able to catch in the gill nets? and what about the by catches do you have to throw back the dead fish that was caught in the net? I always wondered this when seeing people gill net bunker. Always thought they had to have gotten stripers in there and other fish as well

Menhaden and menhaden ONLY per the permit.

all other specials SHOULD be released unharmed.

I used one last year with a friend the day before a friendly Bass tournament. We got about 25 bunker and zero bi-catch ( not saying it can't happen) We only set the net for few minutes at a time.. So I imagine if there were bicatch we would be able to safely release it.

Ok My bad I thought that these nets set out over night not just while your there. That's what not knowing what your talking about does. LOL never been and I just been as they say educated. LOL

What does a commercial tag look like? is it an actual CT motor vehicle looking plate?

Yep Its white, with blue numbers and says CT FISH across the bottom. I guess I'll just stick it on my dashboard while using the net.
