access question for higganum meadows

can you drive down clarkhurst rd. and park to access higganum meadows, or do you have to park and walk in from hurd park? looks according to the map on the dep. website, that you can go down clarkhurst, as a road. then it shows dotted lines for a trail to walk to the fields. thanks.
