View on the way up Bear Mountain, NY. We did a group hike yesterday for my 9-year-old daughter's birthday. Very proud of her, and even younger kids, who did the 2-hour hike up, and then back down again!

The foliage isn't in full color yet. It's a great hike if you're looking for something to do this fall.

Spent a few days in Colorado for the first time and visited Denver, Keystone and Buena Vista. What a beautiful state. There are endless epic views. And, everyone is active out there ... running, biking, fishing, etc. I hope to go back one day and enjoy some fishing/skiing. Not enough time on this trip. But, I did get in an epic whitewater rafting adventure with the wife and kids, who did great.

This is Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, SC outside Charleston. If you look all the back in the pic you will see all of the Shrimp Boats. Great place to hang out and have some fun. Dolphins are seen daily in the creek.

Wednesday sunset on Niantic Bay. Picture taken with an iPhone 6 at the Hole In The Wall. You can barely make out an old-style schooner in the middle of the picture that dropped its hook and stayed the night. Was gone the next day.

I went to Indianapolis for a few days this summer. The cleanest city ever ! No graffiti, homeless, garbage, etc. I rented a kayak and went on the canal system that goes thru the city. Pretty cool.

I took this one yesterday about a mile south of our VT home in Orwell. You can see that the tops of the Green Mtns are snow capped already.

We are spoiled with lotsssss of great beachside sunrises, sunsets, and cool water, wildlife and weather (many great and some awful) views all of the time. Many take them for granted, but I’ve been on that beach since birth and never get tired of them. It’s AMAZING how many people have NEVER SEEN A SUNRISE IN THEIR LIFE!!!!!….EVER!!!!…..damn sleeping bastards don’t know what they’re missing…..unbelievable!

Took my daughter out for dinner at Fresh Salt at Saybrook Point Inn for great dinner (Tuna Poke Bowl, Seafood Cioppino) and drinks (Green Tea Mojotos).




A HUGE 70’++ Sportfisher pulled in to the gas dock while we were having dinner that had a drug helm one the 4th level. What a luxurious way to catch searobins in style!

Took my kids on their first visit to Machu Picchu, Peru recently.

Anicent salt mines fed by salt springs in Maras, Peru, in existence since pre-Incan times.

Another GREAT trip Mitch. Great when your kids are old enough to go, experience and appreciate it.

Mitch: The pictures are amazing and to be able to experience that with your children is fantastic.

Thanks Don. I spend time in the Co. Springs area as often as I can. We left there for a road trip to S.D. and there is a lot to see, Sturgis, Deadwood. Had dinner in Casper Wy. with cheap drinks, scotch and water $4.50, Cosmo $5.00. unreal.

August trip to Co. Springs. They finished the new summit house Bldg. and opened in May. I went to check it out and it is much bigger than the picture. It spreads out on both sides beneath what you see. The complex outside is still under construction making a walk around the summit. I waited till a front moved through to clear the air a bit because of the fires out west. Still wasn't too clear. In spots the wind was incredible.

I haven't been out fishing since March with selling our house and buying another and now doing renovations.
Had to take some time with the family, so we took a few days to run up to Northern New Hampshire and Vermont for a little leaf peeping. took a few pics.

Is that a PowerPole type of device on the transom of your kayak?….just a light/flag mast?…..or something else?

It is a manual anchor pole, 8' long made by Bernie's River Stick.

About 2 years ago I left my pole somewhere, called him up and ordered a new one. The poor guy just moved from PA to FL, went fishing and caught flesh eating bacteria, almost died and lost his leg.

Yes, that feature of being able to adjust the seconds of exposure makes a nice effect. Great seeing daylight like views during pitch black night, but having the stars lit up, lights on houses, navigation lights show up, lights on Long Island, etc….

Tuesday night from my back porch

You get lotssss of great views, and sunsets from your property Chris. That’s a huge perk of being a homeowner there, and especially for a couple that appreciates natural beauty, and the outdoors.

I can never see or take pics if enough sunrises and sunsets. They’re just a primal, tribal, earthy/galactical connection, attraction and appreciation for me. I share a lot of them on CTF, but for every one I share I prob have 30+ I don’t.

It amazes me that there are many people out there who sleep in enough that they have NEVER seen and experienced a sunrise!!!

I really enjoy watching the woods, lake, ocean and all of their inhabitants waking up and changing watching a sunrise progress from darkness while hunting, icefishing and fishing inshore-offshore.

Here’s a sunset/post-sunset (4:49PM) pic from the dead end of my Clinton street as it overlooks the mouth of Clinton Harbor from this past Sunday with my 5 day old Jeep. Super Low Tide this evening and calm.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in late January. Fished all day with six lines in on this trip, but just one needlefish caught. Saw lots of whales and other cool sights, though.

I tell you what….the more charters I go on down South…..FL, Mexico and out of country….many charters suck and you can literally catch wayyyyy more fish right in the marinas from shore…..and some awesome fish at that!

Yeah, first time there. Lots of beautiful fishing boats there. Thought we'd at least score one dorado or marlin, but not on that day.

Did get to visit Sammy Hagar's famous Cabo Wabo bar, too.

Sounds like a GREAT trip despite the slow fishing.

Saw Todd/swwind sailing in the Wednesday night race in front of my cottage tonight before sunset. He’s the chap in pink with the pointy tip of his sail apparently bit off by a big shark.






Then later on I walked from my place down to the mouth of Clinton harbor for post sunset colors and views. It seemed very bassy there tonight, but I didn’t bring my rod.

You know it’s a good fire when people 1 mile away across the marsh called it in as a marsh fire, and 1 policeman and 2 firemen join your fire. They said it was nicely contained, they loved it and wish they were off duty so they could stay and drink with us. I asked the policeman to take a pic with me(and as proof the Police approved my setup for future need)

Currently sweating my A$$ off on my boat. Been out in LIS since 8:30AM. Just got back to slip to wash her squiddy bloody deck down and install the cushions for a boat cruise with my Sis & Bro N Law. They’ve been staying with me at the beach for the past week and they leave to head back to VA tomorrow.

Saona Island, Dominican Republic. Was there for a family vaca last week. No fishing, but enjoyed lots of time in and around the water. The water color at this island was incredible. No filters or Photoshop needed.

No fishing????!!!!….c’mon Mitch!!!….not I’m even with a pocket fisherman? Sheesh they’ll let anyone make a fishing website. Glad O-BASS bought it since he fishes.

Last night quick sunset shakedown cruise after replacing my prop hub I spun on Sun night’s trip. Always “fun” changing that out on my I/O underwater in my slip off my swim platform. 35’ boat across from my slip got SeaTowed in after losing both engines!!!!….they left at 9:30AM for Block Island and JUST got back by Sea Tow to their slip about 5:30PM….and never made it to Block. Ugggghhhhhhh

Caught a tiny Smallmouth and a 32” Northern Pike at a damn that starts that section of the Connecticut River. The Northern Pike slithered back into the water before I could get a pic, but Lisa saw it.
