Turtles

I fished the mouth of the Housatonic today, both in the river and on the beach outside the mouth. I swear I saw turtle heads popping up in both places. They would pop up for a few seconds then go back under. I couldn't get close enough to get a good look at them, but what else could they be ?

Salt water turtles ???
