I’m not sure what to say,or even what your trying to say. But that meat looks real good man. Keep enjoying the #*&! you like, and don’t worry about the little stuff. Try to control only the stuff you can control. Every thing else is just one day /hour/minute at a time. Cook everything!

Keith,

I'm younger than you, but I think the most important thing I ever learned is that the only thing everybody on this planet wants is to feel important.

You owe it to yourself, but more so you owe it to the other people in your area now to seek them out find them and share the awesome skills that you have with them. The same way you joined and still contribute here, any of the bass clubs you might have been a member of, any of the outdoor associations. You need to find those down there and get into them ASAP. One of the best spots to start locally will be to find the local breakfast restaurant, belly up to the counter, and make it known Who You Are. I have the strong suspicion you're not the only deer shooting, fish catching crazy man out there. They need more of your kind on this planet.

Hey Keith, sorry you are in that rut and feeling down.

Winter is the worst time IMO, for most people.....

Like O-Bass said, see who and what is around you that connects to the things you Love....
Like fishing and Shooting Bambi and cooking up some Good Eats!!

I look forward to many of CTF's members posting in the cold months...keeps me from
dropping off the edge...

God Bless.

Tough to move to a new part of the country. For most people making new friends is a task that takes time and some social interactions. O'Bass had a nice idea, so did others.
I have lived in central Pa., Oklahoma, Kentucky, Buffalo, NJ, NYC and now Ct. One of the exciting things is finding new fishing and hunting spots. I even do that here in Ct. by hunting Pa. and NY. This week I am not in Pa. so I am exploring some new Ct. deer hunting spots by using a state land No Lottery B tag. You and I even collaborated on some trout streams earlier this year.
You have the personality to make friends easily but it takes associations. Maybe join a Rod & Gun club. Or be a volunteer with the Tn. DEC. No one knows who you are right now so just reach out and meet some people, that won't be hard for you to do.
In an area like eastern Tn. folks are probably a bit suspicious of an "outsider" especially one who moves in from the north. Disarm them with your knowledge of fishing and hunting and let them know that your new home was a personal first choice among moves for you and your wife to get out of Ct. Make them feel comfortable by being comfortable among them, a little bit at a time. Pretty soon folks will be seeking you out to do things and you will be so busy you'll have to get a calendar to write down all of your outings.

Time is only the front porch......it’s all about eternity.

No one is irrelevant!

God would not have sent His Son to die for you or me if we were irrelevant.

Re: Feeling irellavent - 11/28/18 02:19 PM

All good advice above for sure. Keith, do you get any exercise? If not, start now. It's never too late to start. Just check out the links that I posted at the bottom. Plenty of people out there way older than you, staying active, as well as starting out way later.

The overall good feeling you get from exercise might just be the thing you need snap you out of what you're in. Not to mention the health benefits you get. And once you get going, it will definitely help energize you for many aspects of your life, whether it's fishing, hunting, or other activities.

And if you need a kick in the butt to stop feeling sorry for yourself, listen to some of this guy's advice:

Go volunteer and attempt to make a difference in someone's life that is less fortunate than you are. Knothead

Re: Feeling irellavent - 12/20/18 09:29 PM

I apoligize to all you guys for letting this thread sit idle.very good advice from all.The irelavance in my life is no doubt self inflicted.I was always just a phone call away from all my clients,electrical...call me at 3 am if need be.now its all about..what? No one depends on me now, other than the wench. It feels odd to not be necessary any more.A shift in atitude and purpose .maybe...i,ve never been one to think of myself much...we do ok by the grace of God...strange...got the new boat...it,ll take wheelchairs easy...used to do that guiding ,half my clients back in the day were vets and disabled fellows.seems odd being placed in a situation where i have to think about me and mine,wife,..not used to being self centered and bucket list bound... speaking of bucket lists...just dropped a grand on John Mellencamp tickets and a room at the Hilton a block away from the Ryman( the grand ole opry),nashville 125 year old + bldg...history ...amazing Cash,Hank williams,Elvis, lorretta...list goes on...Mellencamps
New album" other peoples stuff" .. amazing 1920,s blues stuff...am i being selfish? Not rolling in dough, help out where i can..ya know? Mellencamp has a old song called "void in my heart"...basically says no matter what you do it never feels like you did enough.

Re: Feeling irellavent - 12/21/18 07:25 AM

I would probably of already moved down south if it wasn't for my family. My parents are 82 and still doing great and my sister is in Albany and bro in CT. Michelle's parents are upstate NY and her dad is very sick. Just don't want to be a plane ride away from my family at this point, even though I am done with the winter!

I do know friends that made major moves and just try and get involved with their communities so the don't miss the hometown they left. Volunteering is a great feel good remedy.

Re: Feeling irellavent - 12/21/18 03:34 PM

The few times I have got the chance to stay at my place in florida and florida in general, I haven’t missed Ct, at ALL.
KWK you must have a boat load of choices to explore in your new location, judging by your reports.
Hope you enjoy a lot more new locations and adventures. Keep the reports comng, I for one appreciate them.

Re: Feeling irellavent - 12/22/18 03:26 PM

Captain champ Ferguson became a rebel guerilla a feared and revered soldier, after yankees raped and killed his wife and daughter, killed his young son as well.he was captured after the war ended, they hung him.his last request was to be buried in "good rebel soil" ...they gave him that.agree or disagree with state rights( included slavery) not every land owner had slaves.half my family is from Tx the other half from Mo., so much blood in the ground.the french cemetery is a sad and quiet place, you can hear the calf killer babbling and bubbling away near...this a privately owned place yet the family keeps it open...maybe volunteering to come and cut the grass, etc.??? These places are disapearing...

Re: Feeling irellavent - 12/28/18 04:11 PM

The name " calfkiller" comes from a year of high water and flooding pre civil war, local farmers lost a lot of the years young moving herds to higher ground.

Keith, you need to find some guys to hang out with. You know how much fishing I do alone. It is great to meet new people. It was a little tough for me as well when I stopped working. Takes time to adjust.
