Great Hollow is fine. Just stocked last week also.
Michael SW-Ct and I did a short trip Friday-lots of fish breaking (first time I didn't connect with a trout there this year). I stopped by Saturday morning. If I were a trout, I'd have headed for my fallout shelter.

I didn't realize the derby was going on-boy what a crowd. Looked like they were having fun, but if you like fishing in quiet, it was not the place to be. Too me it is difficult to catch a trout when there is so much noise.

Anyway I figured I let the kids fish, and not squeeze in somewhere-I had only a few minutes left there anyway after experienceing no fish on the Far Mill-(the other guy there quit before I did).

Michael SW-Ct has caught scores of fish at Great Hiollow this year. On the other hand Southford Falls and I haven't connected well-in limited trips (once for 15 minutes this year).

So Southford to me is no different from Great Hollow, it's a matter of knowing how to fish either one-and being there at the correct time (whatever that is).

If you want to fish great hollow try to the left of the boat launch all the way in the corner and fish just to the right of the pole sticking out of the water with meal worms. I took my girl friend there and the only reason we left is because we went through 2 dozen meal worms small trout but she had a good time

hey everybody it seems all the fish seem to love the beach area were you cant go fishing. on saturday saw alot of shiners swimming toward the beach area. here is a little tip, were the river comes into the lake at the end of the beach go over the bridge and fish that little cove. use a rainbow trout roostertail or the rainbow trout bluefox minnow spin witch is part spinner with a small trout imitator. good luck

Steve, I'm very familiar with Great Hollow Lake and know what I'm doing there. There's a few spots where I always get pretty lucky. I also broke my trout record there last month. My original record was 13 trout. But now it's 14. Welcome to the site Steve.
