Hit the water around 8:00am this weekend. The wind was already blowing at 15mph.Started fishing early spawning areas , as the deeper bite did not produce the last time I was out. Well this was the right move. I managed 17 bass, 15 smallies and 2 largemouth. The largest smallmouth went 3 3/4lbs with 3 or 4 around 3lbs, and a 3lb largemouth. The rest of the fish went 2lbs and up. No real monsters, but the smallies hit like a ton of brick.I fished shallow flat areas, catching most fish in 4 to 8 ft deep. The baits of choice were jerk bait(new clown color), small crankbait(crawfish) and most of my fish came off a spinner bait( white with gold and silver blades) slow rolled. Should start to see some beds maybe by the weekend if the weather warms back up. Water temps were from 52 to 54.5 degrees.
