fished below hodgeback today from 2 to 430 pm and caught 15 trout all between 11-1/2 to 16-1/4 inches on 4lb test and a size 10 gamakatsu circle hook. Used minnows and night crawlers off the bottom witha small slit shot, it was a slow but steady bite.
Glad to see some one else trying minnows. How did the circle hook work? I use a #8 or 10 short shank dry fly hook and with an immediate hook set upon a hit I get better than 95% in the lip but a circle hook could put me at 100%.
The circle hook is definetly the ticket. As for minnows you cant go wrong. Worms work well but you get alot of harder hits on the minnows. I fish the hodgeback hole alot. I am usually wearing sandles and a mesh hat if you see me sometime say hi.
