Not a personal fishing report, but compiled data from anglers who fished between yesterday and today.
Nice Calicos are being caught, some over 3 pounds. LMB's are active, more than 30 fish reported thus far, mostly 2-4 pounders.
Trout are also active, but out of reach, as they seem to follow schools of herrings out in open water. Tough to troll, but not impossible. Most of the smaller ones are being caught from shore.
Walleyes are in deep coma, to say the least. Post-spawn is the toughest period. They are holding either very deep or in the weeds. Not much in between, and the classic walleye spots are quite deserted.
However, bass anglers had better luck at hooking walleyes. Only one came in today, 24.5 inches, at 6.2 pounds, by a pair of bass fishermen, who are also regulars.
As for myself, I fished yesterday with Bob O, and we got very skunked. None the less, the wind made things extremely difficult, only because it was changing directions every 10 minutes. Not an excuse, only a disadvantage. We moved around alot, never in one spot for more than 15-20 minutes, which is unlike me.
Walleye fishing should pick up by next weekend. After that, the game is on.
