Vince and I went to pierrepont today. There was a guy at the launch who was getting his kayak ready to go fishing. He took one look at Vincent and said, "hey, weren't you on the home page of the Connecticut fishing web site?" That made Vincent's day.
The water was clear and 58ยบ. Vince was using the lead head and blue/white 2" tube again. Vince was pulling in crappie so fast I couldn't get my line in. I decided not to go for crappie this time and put on a #2 baithook with a 6" natural color GULP nightcrawler. (it came in my free GULP sample pack) First cast I get a hit and reel in a 10" crappie. Pretty aggressive guy. A couple of casts later I get my reward, a 8" LMB. The crappie put up a bigger fight. I kept with the nightcrawler and caught myself another 8" LMB.
We went over to another part of the pond and start fishing when this huge snapping turtle surfaced. We reeled in quickly and moved on. The last thing I wanted was that thing grabbing my bait.
Vince lost his tube and went to a 2" red/white tube and started catching crappie again. I went to my ultra light with a 1/32 lead head and a 1" black/chartreuse tube. I quickly caught our first bluegill of the day.
Then Vince wanted to try a inline spinner. He got another crappie, then we called it a day. We were out for a little less than two hours and had a great time again.
Here is the only picture I took. Vince eating a pretzal. I told Vince I would tell everyone he was smoking a cigar. He thought that would be pretty funny.
