tried for trout trolling marked a lot a fish at the usual depths but nothing not even a hit . just like last time i went there. i'm off the mark lately. anyways tried for bass for awhile and boated one nice fish drop shotting missed about 4 more. thats the first time i tried drop shotting. it was a little windy and i was using a 1/4 oz thought a little more weight would have been better. any ways had a good time and met another member jerry. nice boat jerry hope you did better than i did. i had to leave when it got dark my lights don't work. got warned once.

The fish won that day. Got cut off by a pickerel. I think the bite probably turned on later that evening due to the heat. I had to go do my homework for school later that evening and no fishing for me till the tournament. My girlfriend demanded no fishing at Lake George this coming weekend. Have to give in seeing I fished 4 times this past week.

your probably right about the fish not holding over. although i marked a lot of fish at the usual depths they could have been bass and pickerel. marked a lot of bait to.
next time beach pond.
do you know if it's legal to net bait from shore with a small net?

Seeforellen, could you elaborate just alittle on "horrible thermocline". For no other reason except this area interests me.. Thanks in advance...

very thin with extremely low oxygen levels and probably real warm.no good for trout to live through the summer.

I've caught a nice holdover there in late July. The brown was a bit over 20" and I lost one just as big that same day. I know there is a thermocline present but it is really small, which is good for us. By that I mean most, if not all trout in the lake, will be within this small area in the lake and once you troll through it at the right depth and having the right presentation...its almost guarenteed!!!! It was my first trip there in July and once I found the area I caught fish every pass for the entire time I was there.... cp
On another note, I don't think the state would designate it a trophy trout lake if it couldn't support trout year-round, especially the past few summers we've had....

the state actually advertises it as a poor quality trout lake in some of thier lake books with little or no chance for holdover trout, granted there are -probably a few between last summer and this summer, also it may just have been a large stocker that started feeding heavily on herring, they throw a lot of breeders in there, either way thats a nice fish for amos.
