They were very lucky (well besides having a near fatal fire on board).

Scary stuff. The water is still well below 50. How many of the forum members that run off shore carry a life raft? I stay mostly Block or closer but often think of keeping a suitcase type one on board.

And let this be the story that helps you pull the trigger on it.

You own a boat over 50k- time to go with your gut on this and spring for 1-2k on a ticket to safety and kissing your loved ones again. For me, an inshore and freshwater fisherman that means a quality lifevest worn at all times. For the offshore guys, a life raft.
